- The current state-of-the-art of the foreign energy investment in Latin America is twofold: a traditional host market for foreign investors –mainly for the exploration and exploitation of oil, gas and coal-, and a region with a rising power generation industry aimed at investing abroad to cope with international demand.
The main objective of this paper is to evaluate the Latin American investment regulatory landscape in light of the Energy Charter Treaty as a Treaty model for the energy-sector investment protection as well as consider a series of alternatives available for the region in this realm. - América Latina; Europa; Asia
