- The purpose of this paper is to consolidate a body of research, which will explain the opportunities the knowledge economy and innovating in design education can offer to emerging economies specifically in the context of Colombia. Colombia is a country that is growing economically but is also being held back by extremely complex social and political issues that are being addressed by the government, the public sector, and financial institutions but are still far from being solved.
